***ABOUT THE CLUB***

The Taieri Canine Training Club offers classes in Obedience & Agility. The classes are a fun way for you and your dog to meet new friends and a great way to socialise your dog.

The club was formed in 1979 originally as an Obedience club offering both domestic and competitive obedience training. In the late 80s the club became involved in Agility training. The club has been very successful in both disciplines, producing many Champions, Grand Champions and Regional Reps for National Competitions.

Training your Dog takes time and patience, more experienced members may make it look easy, but it has taken many hours of patience to do so. Short, fun sessions each day are of most benefit to your dog.

The Club hosts Championship Shows (which require NZKC registration), Obedience and Agility Seminars which are often facilitated by visiting specialists. Also Ribbon Trials (less formal competitions).

 ***AGILITY TRAINING***

In Agility the handler directs a dog around an obstacle course in an accurate race against the clock. Dogs in competition must run off-lead with no food or toys as incentives.

At Taieri Canine Training Club we offer the following Agility Courses.

***OBEDIENCE TRAINING***

For Obedience training your dog must be at least 4 months of age and hold a current vaccination certificate.

At Taieri Canine Training Club we offer the following Obedience Classes

Puppy Obedience - A basic course offering socialization, Waits, Stays, lead control and tricks

Domestic Obedience - This covers the basic skills that every dog and owner should have to ensure a happy and respectful relationship Training includes exercises such as heel, sit, stay, come and tricks.

Canine Good Citizen - Canine Good Citizen training is fun and useful. Through it, you and your dog will establish a closer bond and your dog will have the added benefit of knowing how to please you. The test of your dog's manners and training is not a competition and does NOT require that you and your dog perform with precision.  (see Links for further information on Canine Good Citizen training). Available for dogs from 12 months of age

Advanced Obedience - Most people come through to Advance Obedience from the domestic class, wishing to build on skills learned and having enjoyed the relationship with their dogs. This class will take you through to competition level.
